The rodman carries the prism from point to point across the terrain; at each stop the instrument fires its EDM beam, records angles and distance, and the traverse grows — drag to watch from any angle.

  1. The instrument is set over a known station and levelled; every measurement is referenced to this point.
  2. The rodman walks the prism to each detail point — over real terrain, exactly as on site.
  3. The EDM beam reflects off the prism: travel time gives slope distance while encoders read both angles.
  4. Each point becomes an (E, N, Z) coordinate and the traverse polyline grows — the raw material of every site plan.
